I was a key contributor to formation of the Nest industrial design team, and its growth to 6 members within a year. In collaboration with director, CEO, cross functional partners, I defined positioning and design language for the Nest security product line.
We defined what it meant for Nest to expand beyond its original offering of thermostats and smoke detectors, building a flexible design system that was rooted in housewares design and leveraged signature elements from Nest’s iconic first products. This system set a trajectory for all future Nest devices and revolutionized the home security category with a friendly design approach that is ubiquitous today.
I led the design of the Nest Cam line and contributed to the creation of the Nest Secure Alarm system, reimagining the category from the ground up.
This iconic system was a game changer in the home security space. Nest proved that security devices did not have to be ugly or scary, instead they can blend beautifully into the home and be a joy to use.
